International Organis-ation for Standardisation-certi- fied precast concreteinfrastructure manufacturer Rocla has partnered with Polokwane-based contractingcompany Mohale Electrical Contractors to improve the double-circuit 66 kV transmission line from the Tzaneen main substation to the new Western substation.
The company was contracted to supply 21 m and 24 m monopoles and double poles for the project, which was aimed at improving electricity supply to the residents of Tzaneen. The spun concrete double poles are long-lasting with low maintenance requirements and are aesthetically pleasing.
The concrete poles also have no resale value making them unattractive to theives.
“The products, which were manufactured at the company’s Roodepoort pole plant, took about five weeks to complete,” says Rocla pole specialist Kevin West.
